PURPOSE: To provide a direction changing device for a carrier truck by which the carrier truck can pass through a narrow passage corner in a building by means of a direction changing operation of the carrier truck in itself.

CONSTITUTION: A direction changing device for a carrier truck is provided with an ascending/descending type vehicle body turning mechanism 7 composed of an ascending/descending frame 8 installed on the tip of a jack in the center of a vehicle body bottom part sandwiched between front wheels 4 and rear wheels 5 of the carrier truck 3 in combination with the jack 6 and a turn base 10 supported on the lower surface side of the frame through a bearing 9 so as to be capable of turning freely. When the carrier truck approaches a direction changing point, a vehicle body is jacked up, and after the vehicle body is turned in the desired direction on the spot, it is jacked down, and is made to travel toward the next track.
