Title:
DIRECTIONAL CONTROL DEVICE OF HOVERCRAFT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5539824
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To reduce the turning radius of a hovercraft at the time of changing its direction and greatly improve its maneuverability, by exhausting compressed air from both broadsides of the fore body.

CONSTITUTION: The chamber of the hovercraft is divided into two parts 2A, 2B by hanging a skirt 5A from a partition board 8 at the beam center in the chamber. For changing the direction leftward, rudders 7, 7 are controlled and a control valve 12 is opened to exhaust part of compressed air in the chamber 2B from an opening 10b through an air injection pipe 10. This injection of compressed air provides the hull with a directional control force leftward in addition to the turning force by the rudders 7 for producing a quick turn.
