PURPOSE: To obtain a novel inthiazolyl compds. that are useful as a microbicide, called dirondalones, stable chemically and thermically, and with reduced skin hypersensitivity.
CONSTITUTION: The novel compd. is a dirondalone compd. of formula I [wherein A is a dialdehyde residue; R1 is an alkyl, R2 [R2 is a group of formula II (X1 and X2 are capable of forming a 5 to 6-membered fused carbon ring, which ring is satud., unsatd. or arom., or X1 is Cl, H, methyl or Br and X2 is H, Cl, Br)]], e.g. 1,3,3-trimethoxy-1-(5-chloro-isothiazoloxy-3-yl)propane. The compd. of the formula I is obtd. by reacting a compd. of formula III (wherein R3 is an alkyl) with a 3-hydroxyisothiazole of formula IV or its substd. deriv., preferably under elevated temp. and in the presence of a weak acid.
