Abstract:
PURPOSE:To achieve a coexistence with a normal data file by providing a buffer for adjusting a data rate between a video signal processing section and a recording/reproducing section to perform a recording or reproducing of a digital video signal efficiently and smoothly. CONSTITUTION:A buffer 19 is arranged to store an output of a video signal processing section 10 temporarily in recording so that it is converted to a second data rate to match a recording operation and in reproduction, a reproduction data to be reproduced at the second data rate is stored temporarily to be outputted to the video signal processing section 10 at the first data rate. A disc medium 16, a disc drive section 17 to rotate the disc medium 16 at a fixed speed, and a recording/reproducing section 18 for recording or reproducing data at the disc medium 16 are also provided. This enables the recording or reproducing of a relatively large, data file with a constant data rate for example, that of a video signal smoothly and efficiently thereby achieving a coexistence with a normal data file.
