Title:
DISC ROTOR SEALED WITH COOLANT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS57157841
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To improve performance of heat radiation, by providing an air-tight cavity throuthout from a rotor main unit to its cooling part equipped with cooling fins, sealing a coolant at a state of pressure reduced in the cavity and separately constituting a heat absorbing part and cooling part met to each purpose. CONSTITUTION:For a vehicle at running operation, a coolant A receives centrifugal force due to rotary motion of a rotor, and is concentrated in a liquid state radially to the outside of a cavity 2, that is, to the side of a slide friction surface 1a of the rotor. If a brake is applied, holding pressure of pads to the slide friction surface 1a of the rotor causes friction heat, and temperature rises in a portion of the surface 1a. In this way, the liquid state coolant A absorbs heat from a rotor main unit 1, and is vaporized, diffused to the inside of the cavity 2 to reach a cooling part cavity 3b, cooled and liquefied. The liquefied coolant A is strongly affected by centrifugal force due to the rotary motion of the disc rotor main unit 1 and moved to the side of the slide friction surface 1a in the cavity 2 to again absorb heat from the rotor main unit 1.
