Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prevent a thermal stress or an unreasonable thermal deformation from occurring at a generator by circumferentially dividing the heat insulator at the prescribed interval. CONSTITUTION:A heat insulator 8 is circumferentially divided at the prescribed interval. The heat insulator 8 is supported not by the outer wall but by forming slots at the electrodes 6a, 6b and forming an extension at the insulator 8 in combination. Gaps 12 are formed between the divided insulators 8 and the insulator 8, the electrodes 6a, 6b. The gap 12 is determined to eliminate the gap 12 by considering the temperature distribution during the operation of a disc type MHD generator.
