Title:
DISCHARGE DISPLAY APPARATUS
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH03266335
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To lessen the number of control inputs by providing a constant trigger voltage to a trigger electrode during a cathode is scanning and applying the potential which is able to cause reproduction discharge to the trigger electrode during the scanning of one frame and the scanning of the next frame.

CONSTITUTION: Since a trigger electrode is at VF (anode-on) potential and a cathode 11 is at VH (cathode-off) potential until on voltage VX is applied to the cathode 11 after a scanning of one frame starts, a dielectric glass layer 10 is charged positively in the cathode 11 side and negatively in the electrode 9. Then, when the electrode 11 is at on potential V1, trigger discharge is caused between the layer 10 and the electrode 11. During that time, anode electrodes are successively selected and image signals are applied. A main discharge is caused in a discharge cell where the electrodes 13 to which signals at VF level are applied and the selected electrode 11 cross. After selection of the electrodes 13 is finished, the electrodes 13 become off potential VG. Next, selection of the electrode 11 is also finished and the electrodes becomes at off potential V1, too. Then, when the potential of the electrode 9 is decreased to (V1-VF), reproduction discharge is caused between the layer 10 and the electrodes 13 and the layer 10 is neutralized.
