To provide a discharge gap switch preventing generation of large impulse sound in operation and reducing the maintenance and checking by using no trigger electrode.
This discharge gap switch is composed of an electrode chamber 1 in which a pair of discharge electrodes faced each other is housed; a decompression chamber 4 having larger volume than the electrode chamber 1; and a vacuum pump 5 for reducing pressure of the decompression chamber 4, a valve 3 opening and electrode chamber 1 to the atmosphere and a valve 3 communicating the electrode chamber 1 with the decompression chamber 4 are installed, and the valve 3 opening the electrode chamber 1 to the atmosphere is closed and the valve 3 communicating the electrode chamber 1 with decompression chamber 4 is opened.
