To provide a discharge lamp device provided with a discharge lamp having improved luminous efficiency without causing melting destruction of a discharge vessel, and a discharge lamp lighting device for lighting the discharge lamp.
The discharge lamp comprises: the discharge vessel 10B formed of a nonconductive member having optical transparency with a luminescent substance filled therein; and an antenna member 10D arranged to project one end into the discharge vessel and to expose the other end to the outside of the discharge vessel. The discharge lamp lighting device comprises: an internal cylindrical member 14A having, at one end, a mounting section for mounting the discharge lamp thereto by inserting a part of the discharge lamp with the antenna attached thereto; and a waveguide part 14 having an external cylindrical member 14B arranged to surround the internal cylindrical member, and composed by forming, between the outside surface of the internal cylindrical member 14A and the inside surface of the external cylindrical member 14B, a waveguide for guiding electromagnetic waves generated by an electromagnetic wave generation section to the discharge lamp mounted to the mounting section.
