A protecting circuit 71 opens a feed path from a direct current power supply DC and stops an inverter circuit INV by switching off a switching switch part S when an output of a detecting circuit 70 reaches L level, and closes the feeding path from the direct current power supply DC and activates the inverter circuit INV by switching on the switching switch part S when the output of the detecting circuit 70 reaches H level. Accordingly, if at least either one of a pair of the connecting terminal parts 36, 36 and the connectors 50, 50 is in the incomplete connecting state, since the output of the detecting circuit 70 reaches the L level and the protecting circuit 71 stops operation of the inverter circuit INV, it is possible to prevent that a cold cathode fluorescent lamp 3 is kept lighted in the incomplete connecting state.
