To provide a discharge lamp lighting device in which suppression of striation and cataphoresis is not affected when the discharge lamp is lighted by detecting and correcting a true direct current component in a lamp current, and an illumination fixture equipped with this.
The discharge lamp lighting device includes: a direct current power supply DCS; a high frequency inverter INV of which the input end is connected to the direct current power supply; a direct current component detecting means CC2 of detecting the true direct current component in the lamp current of the discharge lamp; a direct current component correcting means IDC to correct so that the direct current component of a prescribed value is superposed on the lamp current; and an abnormal discharge suppressing means ADP to act in order to suppress striation and cataphoresis when the discharge lamp is lighted, when an input electric power of the discharge lamp is at least within a prescribed range.
