Since lighting devices 13-16 for intermediate shelves with inverter circuits 13a-16a for intermediate shelves incorporated therein are arranged in the vicinities of illumination lamps 8-11 for intermediate shelves, transmission of high-frequency power for lighting the illumination lamps 8-11 for intermediate shelves can be shortened; and the influence of stray capacitance and noise generated by the high-frequency power can be reduced. In a time slot in which the level of a demand for brightness is low, needless power consumption can be restrained by collectively controlling the light of all the lamps.
