Abstract:
To obtain a discharge lamp lighting device which can continue discharge maintenance immediately after the start of discharging even in the case the lighting of a mercury-less lamp is controlled.
A start assisting circuit 3 which steps up the power supply voltage V1 of the DC power supply 1 and maintains its stepped-up voltage V2 is provided, and when the discharge of an HID lamp 20 is started, the stepped-up voltage V2 maintained in the start assisting circuit 3 is impressed on a transformer 2. Thereby, even if the HID lamp 20 is a mercury-less lamp, discharge maintenance immediately after the start of discharging can be continued.
