To provide a discharge lamp lighting device 10 capable of detecting a discharge current removing effect of capacitive elements in a simple structure.
Discharge voltage of the discharge lamp FL is detected by a discharge voltage detecting means 20. The current output from an inverter circuit 12 is detected by a current detecting means 24. A peak phase of the discharge voltage is detected by a peak phase detecting means having a detecting circuit 27, the current output from the inverter circuit 12 is detected at the peak phase of the discharge voltage, and the discharge current removing the effect of capacitive elements is detected. Thus, the inverter circuit 12 can be feedback-controlled in a simple structure by the discharge current removing the effect of capacitive elements.
