To automatically discharge a memory card for its safety.
This connector for the memory card is engaged at a different contact position during insertion and discharge. The distance d1 between a first contact 52 and a first pivotally attached point 50 of a link arm 48 which are used during insertion is longer than the distance d2 between a second contact point 54 and the pivotally attached point 50 of the link arm 48 by a ratio of 3:1 to 6:1. Thereby, a great mechanical advantage can be obtained, therefore, the card can be inserted applied with less resistance force, on the other hand, can obtain a sufficient discharge force. A closing device securing the safety of the memory card and a trigger device for releasing the restrained link arm 48 are also disclosed. For example, a pin 98 is pulled from the link arm 48 by a longitudinal force generated by supplying a current to a shape memory wire 114 to move the link arm from the restrained position 51.
