To provide a discharging device that is inexpensive and designed to reduce wear of a discharging electrode and to prevent a bias application failure caused by a contact failure, and also to provide an image forming apparatus having the discharging device.
The discharging device is disposed next to a device used to transfer a toner image from an image carrier 3 to a belt-like image carrier 4. The discharging device has a web-like discharging electrode 139 which is disposed in contact with the internal face of the belt-like image carrier 4, and is movable, slidable and conductive. The web-like discharging electrode 139 is displaced within the flat face of the belt-like image carrier 4. The image forming apparatus 200 has this discharging device.
