Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2014054641
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a discrimination device and a discrimination method capable of discriminating between a molten metal lump and an oxide floating on a liquid surface of molten metal stored in a furnace such as a melting furnace or a holding furnace and the like, or attached to a wall surface of the furnace.

A discrimination apparatus includes: a camera 1 which images from a liquid surface Ka of molten metal K across a wall surface Ra of a furnace R; and an image processing device 2 which detects foreign matter P floating on the liquid surface Ka of the molten metal K or attached to the wall surface Ra of the furnace R from an image imaged by the camera 1, and discriminates the detected foreign matter P into a molten metal lump M and a molten metal oxide L based on a discrimination element comprising at least one of glossiness, a color and a shape.
