To provide a time recorder capable of suppressing a rise in cost of manufacture with a simple structure.
The time recorder 10 includes a first sensor 15 which detects a side end part of a time card having a cut formed in at least one corder part at a lower end, a second sensor 16 which detects a lower end part of the time card, and a card feed unit 28 which feeds the time card. As the card feed unit 28 feeds the time card, a pulse counter of the card feed unit 28 counts pulses of a predetermined pulse signal from when the first sensor 15 detects the time card until when the second sensor 16 detects the time card. Based upon the number of pulses as a count result, the top and reverse of the time card are discriminated. Consequently, the top and reverse of the time card can be discriminated only by the first sensor 15 and second sensor 16. The structure of the device is therefore simplified.
