To prevent the increase of a pad clearance caused by the thermal expansion of a seal member in a hydraulic disk brake.
A seal groove 9 is formed on the inner peripheral surface of a cylinder bore 7, and a ring-like seal member 10 of rectangular cross section is fitted to the seal groove 9 to seal a clearance between the cylinder bore 7 and a piston 11 by the seal member 10. A front end face 16 located on the opening side of the cylinder bore 7, of the seal groove 9 is formed of two inclined faces 16A, 16B to form a clearance S2 between the seal member 10 and the front end face 16. A chip parting groove 15 is disposed at a bottom face 17 on the bottom part side of the cylinder bore 7. When the seal member 10 is thermally expanded by the transmission of frictional heat when braking, the seal member 10 is restrained by the chip parting groove 15, and the expanded portion is held into the clearance S2. Expansion onto the rear end face 18 side is thereby suppressed, and the retreat of a piston 11 caused by thermal expansion can be prevented.
