To successively accommodate a plurality of disks into an apparatus by moving disk accommodation sections in the vertical direction in response to detection of accommodation of one disk into one of the disk accommodation sections arranged in a disk insertion opening, and arranging any vacant disk accommodation section at the disk insertion opening.

When a first disk 12 is inserted through a disk insertion opening 3 in response to activation of a successive accommodation switch, the disk is accommodated by means of a driving roller or the like into a first disk accommodation section 21R arranged at the disk insertion opening 3. When a disk detector 10 detects that the first disk 12 has been thus accommodated, a control circuit drives a screw shaft 8 to rotate in a predetermined direction by means of a shaft driving mechanism, so that a second disk accommodation section 22R is arranged at the disk insertion opening 3, thereby an apparatus being placed in an insertion-ready condition for a second disk 13. When the insertion of the second disk 13 is completed, the apparatus is similarly placed in a ready condition for insertion of the next disk.
