To provide the disk device in which the linear velocity of the signals recorded in a disk is accurately obtained and the search of a target disk information is conducted in a short time with high precision.
A pickup is retreated for one track from the position of a performance time (T0) on the disk. Then, a counter 8 measures the time in which the pickup returns to the time (T0) position from the retreated position with a prescribed line velocity (for example, 1.2m/s). Then, the linear velocity of the signals recorded on the disk is obtained from the measured time (the count value). Then, the number of tracks to the desired search destination is obtained based on the linear velocity obtained and the time difference between the present performance time and the performance starting time of a target music and the pickup is moved for the number of tracks obtained above.
