PURPOSE: To accurately perform data transfer on time by performing seek control while comparing seek schedule prepared so as to complete the seek against the recording track of request data with timer generation time.

CONSTITUTION: The time schedule for a series of data transfer issued from a host device 10 is stored in a schedule memory 14. In this case, a timer 16 starts receiving the start control from the host device 10, and generates time information to execute the time schedule stored in the schedule memory 14. A controller 18 controls the data transfer of the image data read out from a recording medium 12 while comparing the time for time schedule indicated from a host 10 stored in the schedule memory 14 with the generation time of the timer 16. Thus, the accurate data transfer according to the request from the host can be performed.
