To increase the output speed of recording data of a host computer and the transmission speed of a data bus by providing the host computer with a data compressing means which compresses recording data to be outputted to the data bus.
The disk recording system 1 has the host computer 2 and a disk drive 3, which are connected by the data bus 4. The system 1 transmits, the recording data in a compressed state by the data bus 4 from the host computer 2 to the disk drive 3. This transmission is carried out fast and operation for storing the recording data is not interrupted owing to the emptiness of a data buffer. Further, the recording data in the compressed state are stored in the data buffer, so this data buffer is stored with a relatively large amount of storage data and the data buffer is prevented from being emptied from this point of view.
