Abstract:

PURPOSE: To suppress generation of friction between chips and a cutting end face by arranging a plurality of outer circumference cutting edge parts, in each of which a ridge part between an outer circumference flank in the outer circumference cutting edge and one of a pair of side faces positioned on both side part sides of the outer circumference cutting edge is eliminated.

CONSTITUTION: When cutting is carried out by means of an outer circumference cutting edge 202a in the first outer circumference blade part 196a, a width Wa of a generated chip is smaller than an axis directional length Wb of a cylindrical locus formed by means of a plurality of outer circumference cutting edges 202a, 202b in the first outer circumference blade part 196a and the second outer circumference blade part 196b, in other words, smaller than a width WD of a cutting groove 214 formed in a rod material 12a. Therefore, even if generated chips are expanded by heat generated in cutting, the chips are stored in a notch, which works as a chip pocket, in a disk type rotary cutting tool, so that friction between the chips and the cutting groove 214 inside wall can be properly suppressed when the chips are moved in the cutting groove 214.
