To provide a dispersing agent for an inorganic pigment capable of making even high concentration slurry of a fine particle pigment low viscosity and capable of keeping the viscosity of the slurry under a high shear low, and to provide a composition for dispersing the pigment containing the same.
A salt of a copolymer is prepared from copolymerization of ethylenic unsaturated monocarbonic acid (A), a polyalkylene glycol(meth)acrylate (B) and ethylenic unsaturated dicarbonic acid (C), and the ratio of the (A) component is 40-89 mol%, the (B) component is 1-10 mol%, and the (C) component is 10-59 mol% to the total molar quantity of (A), (B), (C) which constitute the copolymer, and the weight average molecular weight (Mw) is 25,000-65,000. The dispersing agent for an inorganic pigment contains the salt of the above copolymer. The composition for dispersing the pigment contains the above dispersing agent. Coating paper and members for electronic materials are treated with the above composition.
