Abstract:
To provide a dispersion measuring device and a dispersion measuring method for more accurately measuring the amount of wavelength dispersion of a measurement object.SOLUTION: A dispersion measuring device 1A comprises a pulse laser light source 2, a pulse formation unit 3, a correlator 4, and a computation unit 5b. The pulse formation unit forms, from a light pulse Pa outputted from the pulse laser light source, a light pulse train Pb that includes a plurality of light pulses Pb1, Pb2 mutually having a time difference and mutually differing in center wavelength. The correlator detects the time waveform of correlation light Pc formed from the light pulse train Pb. The computation unit 5b estimates, on the basis of the time waveform of the correlation light Pc, the wavelength dispersion amount of an optical component 7 arranged on the optical path between the pulse laser light source and the correlator. A dispersion medium 8 applies a positive or negative group delay dispersion to the light pulse train Pb so as to heighten the peak intensity of the correlation light Pc, making it greater than or equal to a detection threshold of the correlator. The pulse formation unit applies, to the light pulse Pa, a group delay dispersion which is of the reverse sign to the group delay dispersion applied to the light pulse train Pb.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
