To produce a dispersion-strengthened type composite material capable of producing a composite material more inexpensive and more homogeneous compared with the one obtd. by the conventional methods and to provide a method for producing the dispersion-strengthened type composite material.
The amt. of pure Mg to be added in Al and the treating temp. at the time of holding a sample to a certain temp. are changed, and the infiltration of Mg-contg. Al into SiC is investigated. The fact that the amt. of Mg required for the infiltration is increased as the treating temp. drops is confirmed. In this way, the wettability of the light alloy material to the composite stock improves under the low temp. condition, and the flow of the light alloy material is improved, so that the composite material can be produced under the low temp. condition.
