To obtain a solvent-based surface treatment agent that exhibits efficient antimicrobial actions on many kinds of microorganisms and has no influence on the human body and the environment.
The dispersion comprises a volatile organic solvent, at least one base material of a resin and a dispersant dissolved in the organic solvent and an antimicrobial composition containing two kinds selected from imidazole-based organic antimicrobial agents and an inorganic antimicrobial agent and is a liquid. The dispersion is applied to the surface of a material to be treated and the organic solvent is removed so that the antimicrobial composition exhibiting an extremely wide antimicrobial spectrum and having negative skin irritation and high safety and an extremely low influence on the human body and the environment is easily and stably supported on the surface of the material to be treated by the base material and efficiently and easily develops a high antimicrobial action on the material to be treated.
