To provide a display body forming method displaying a distance scale and other displays (for example, a logo of a maker, the name of the product and the like) in an endoscope insertion tube in the radial direction to the optical axis of the endoscope insertion tube and simply displaying the display by coloring the outer surface of the endoscope insertion tube by a laser beam.
This display body formation method forms a visible display body on the outer surface of the narrow and long insertion tube using a laser machining apparatus. This method radiates the laser beam from the laser machining apparatus to the outer surface to form the visible display body by the energy of the beam, and when a display body is formed at a part positioned beyond the irradiation range of the laser beam in a state connected to the display body, the laser beam is radiated from the laser machining apparatus with the insertion tube turned around the axial direction of the insertion tube and forms the visible display body by the energy of the beam.
