A system control unit 210 moves the index 602 within a predetermined range in accordance with the movement of a touch point with respect to a touch panel 106 superimposed on the display 101, sets a new reference value to a value of the scale corresponding to a position where the touch point is touched-up, and when shift values to the new reference value fall out of a range of values of the scale 604 displayed on the display 101, updates the display range of values of the scale 604 so that the index 602 indicating the new reference value and the indices 603L and 603R indicating the shift values to the new reference value are displayed on the display 101 in association with the value of the scale 604.
