PURPOSE: To specify an area whose data are updated in response to the updating of the data in a certain area.
CONSTITUTION: A table data table 28 stores the data on a product sales table, etc., and a calculating expression table 29 stores the calculating expressions that define the calculation of the table data stored in the table 28. A display device 3 shows the table data and the calculating expressions. An input device 1 designates a desired area on a display screen and inputs the data. Thus, a calculating expression control part 24 retrieves a calculating expression related to the designated area out of the table 29 and then carries out this expression. A table data control part 27 updates the data in the relevant area stored in the table 28. A reference area extracting part 23 extracts the area whose data are updated by a calculating expression. Then, a display attribute control part 26 changes the data display attributes (halftone plating, etc.) of the relevant area stored in the table 28.
