A model is created for displaying, on a calendar for July, 2006 displayed in a virtual space, a rectangular parallelepiped with a height corresponding to the number of image files for every date of photographing. The side faces of the displayed rectangular parallelepiped of each date are colored according to the ratio between the number of files of moving images and the number of files of still images photographed on that day. A representative image representing the images for each date is displayed on the top face of the rectangular parallelepiped. The quantity of the moving images and still images photographed for each date and the index images can thereby be easily acquired. This configuration is applicable, for example, to digital still cameras or digital video cameras.
