This camera display device uses a single light source 4 differently between a main display state and a subordinate display state, and drives the light source 4 to implement a function of reducing the red-eye phenomenon of a subject in the main display state prior to exposure, and a function of generating a warning indicating that a set self-timer time has elapsed in the subordinate display state prior to the exposure. A CPU 20 discriminates a display state to be set to the light source 4, according to the operation of the camera. A driving circuit 36 supplies electric power to drive the light source 4. When the subordinate display state is discriminated, the CPU 20 controls the driving circuit 36 to make the electric power supplied to the light source 4 less than that in the main display state.
