PURPOSE: To facilitate the control of the input information at selection of menus, etc., and at the same time to simplify the application software by providing a touch panel to designate the optional position coordinates and an output means for character codes.
CONSTITUTION: Each character shown on a display 3 corresponds successively to the addresses stored in a VRAM respectively at and after the upper left position of the display 3 with a display device 2 containing an input function which a touch panel 4 is overlapped on the display 3. Then the coordinates 1-40 can be designated in the (x) direction and the coordinates 1-25 in the (y) direction respectively with push of an optional point of the panel 4. Therefore the addresses of the VRAM are calculated in response to the positions of the (x) and (y) coordinates from these coordinates obtained with push of an optional point on the panel 4. Then the character codes are read out of the obtained addresses and outputted to a computer main body 1. Thus it is possible to simplify the application software since the input information can be easily controlled at selection of menus.
