PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device and its control method for suppressing a rise in luminance caused when a low gray scale (black, for example) is displayed while increasing peak luminance for high gray scale (white, for example).
SOLUTION: The device is provided with: a display section 14 in which a plurality of pixels 141 that respectively include organic EL elements 24, switching TFTs21 and drive TFTs23 are arranged; a data signal driving circuit 10 which receives image data for every frame and outputs image signals based on the data; a scanning signal driving circuit 12 which outputs scanning signals to control the receiving timing of the image signals by the switching elements of the plurality of the pixels; and a current source (a light emitting power supply section 15 and a cathode potential controlling circuit 17) which outputs currents to be supplied to the light emitting sections through the driving elements of the plurality of the pixels. The current source modulates the output current values within the frame interval.
