PURPOSE: To provide a display device for a copying machine, etc., where ordinary display is performed in the case of ordinary operation and a color filter is inserted in the case of the occurrence of abnormality so that an abnormal mark is displayed at the color filter part to inform a user of the abnormality.

CONSTITUTION: The display device for the copying machine, etc., having a display unit which displays plural kinds of contents by itself is provided with a liquid crystal display panel 32, a backlight 33 irradiating the panel 33 with light, the color filter 35 set between the panel 32 and the backlight 33, a holding means (filter holding part) 36 holding the color filter 35, and an operational solenoid for moving the holding means 36; and the color filter 35 freely gets in and out of a gap between the panel 32 and the backlight 33 by the holding means 36 and the operational solenoid.
