An upper side polarizing plate 130 is arranged on the upper side of the TN liquid crystal panel 140. A color filter 150, a lower side polarizing plate 160, a light diffusion plate 170, a reflective polarizing plate 180, a backlight 190 and a light reflection plate 200 are successively arranged on its lower side. Then the relation between the haze value (H) of the light diffusion plate 170 and the distance (d) between the light diffusion plate 170 and the light reflection plate 200 is set to satisfy H≥-200d+140. Therefore the incident light 111 on the light reflection plate 200 passing through the light diffusion plate 170 is sufficiently diffused so as to reduce parallax in the black and white display and to make the reflected light white on the color display.
