Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device and a light pipe capable of improving visibility of a display panel and achieving energy saving and a longer service life without impairing design of the display panel.SOLUTION: A display device 1 includes a light guide member 6 configured so that a plurality of light pipes 7 is provided in parallel side by side, each of the light pipes 7 having one end on which a light-receiving surface 9 receiving light from an LED 4 is arranged and the other end on which a light-emitting end 10 emitting the light is arranged, the light pipes 7 are coupled to one another via a coupling portion 8 extending in a direction orthogonal to an axial direction of the light pipes 7. The light-emitting ends 10 of the light pipes 7 are provided in parallel on a display panel 2 of the display device 1, and a device state is displayed by allowing the light-emitting end 10 of the light pipe 7 at an arbitrary position to emit light. Each light pipe 7 is configured so that a concave surface 9a is formed on the light-receiving surface 9, a planar end surface 10a is formed on the light-emitting end 10 to be generally flush with a panel surface 2a of the display panel 2, and that a throttle portion 12 in which an outside diameter of the light-emitting end 10 is smaller than those of portions of an optical guide 11 other than the light-emitting end 10 is provided.
