To provide a display device which has good appearance, has a long lifetime with low power consumption and uses a light incorporating a light- emitting diode, emitting light of various luminescent colors at a low voltage.

In the display device 1, terminals 3 are arranged in the shape of optional characters and graphics on a display surface 2 and connected to a light 5. The light 5 incorporates a light emitting part 7, consisting of light- emitting diodes 7a, 7b and 7c within a glass container 6. When a direct current power source is connected to the lights 5 of the display device, the light-emitting parts 7 emits light. When the display device 1 is viewed from a distance, characters and a graphic described by the lights 5 will appear, as though it emits light planarly so that a display of good appearance can be made.
