Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device capable of reducing the electric power consumption in the portable terminal of a portable telephone device.
SOLUTION: A cover 30 capable of being opened and closed on the portable terminal main body 10 is arranged so that the upper part of a display panel 14 is uncovered, and in the display area of the display panel 14, the uncovered area where the cover 30 is closed is assumed to be a first display area and the covered area is assumed to be a second display area. And, the first display area is lighted up by the first illumination part and the second display area by the second illumination part. The first illumination operation switch 22 can turn on-off the first illumination part and the second illumination operation switch 24 can turns on-off the second illumination part. Also, the device is so arranged that when the cover 30 is put into the close lid state, the second illumination part is automatically turned off. Further, after, the elapse of a certain time when a certain key operation was done, turning on-off of the first and second illumination parts are individually controlled.
