To provide a display device for a vehicle, a dimming method, and a program that allow a satisfactory dimming of a display.SOLUTION: A display device 1 for a vehicle includes a voltage output unit 30, a control unit 60, and a voltage adjustment unit 40. The voltage output unit 30 outputs a voltage according to illuminance of external light that is detected by a photo detector 20. The control unit 60 adjusts a display luminance of a display 10 that is mounted on the vehicle, according to a value of the voltage that is output from the voltage output unit 30. The voltage adjustment unit 40 is controlled to be in a first state or a second state by the control unit 60; and adjusts, when in the second state, the value of the voltage output from the voltage output unit 30 to be lower than that in the first state. The control unit 60 controls, when a predetermined voltage adjustment condition is not established, the voltage adjustment unit 40 to bring it into the first state; and controls, when the voltage adjustment condition is established, the voltage adjustment unit 40 to bring it into the second state.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
