To provide a display device for vehicles which is capable of displaying indices indicating vehicle states of plural kinds with good visibility without increasing the cost of the device.

A dial 10 on which plural kinds of the indices for indicating the vehicle states is constituted to have translucent planar members 10a and 10b laminated in a plurality and has shining parts 11a and 11b which are disposed at the planar members 10a and 10b, are worked to the shapes of the indices varying with each of the planar members 10a and 10b and shine to the shapes of the desired indices, light sources 9a and 9b which are disposed in correspondence to each of the planar members 10a and 10b and emit the light to be guided in the planar members 10a and 10b, a coloring member 13 which is formed of a color translucent member for making only the shining parts 11a and 11b which shine visible, an instructing means 33 which instructs the light sources 9a and 9b to be made to emit light and a switching means 8 which switches to the light sources 9a and 9b corresponding to the instruction of the instructing means.
