Abstract:
To provide a display device and a virtual image display device, enabling elimination of reduction in visibility thereby enabling suppression of temperature rise of liquid crystal panels.SOLUTION: When the temperature of a liquid crystal display 110 is equal to or below a predetermined prescribed temperature, a control unit 140 turns a backlight 120 on and displays main images A, B, C1, C2, D1, D2 that are main images in a plurality of display areas, respectively. When the temperature of the liquid crystal display 110 exceeds the prescribed temperature, the control unit 140 turns a backlight 120 off that corresponds to a prescribed display area among the plurality of display areas, and displays a sub-image a that is a simplified version of the main image, in place of the main image A in an adjacent display area, and a sub-image b that is a simplified version of the main image B in a prescribed display area.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
