The display device is equipped with a display panel 2 which has display cells 4 corresponding to three primary colors red, green and blue as one unit pixel, a driving control means 3 which performs color display by causing the respective display cells 4 of the display panel 2 to selectively emit light according to an inputted video signal DV and performs gray scale display by controlling the number of light emission times of the display cells 4 according to the signal level of the video signal DV, an accumulation means 32 which accumulates the number of light emission times of the display cells 4 of the display panel 2, a storage means 33 which stores the cumulative value of the number of light emission times of the display cells 4 accumulated by the accumulation means 32, and a gain adjusting means 31 which adjusts the gain of the signal level of the video signal DV inputted to the driving control means 3 by each of the respective colors and performs the adjustment of the white balance of the display panel 2.
