Abstract:
To make the external form of a display device small, to reduce also power consumption and to carry out excellent color display.
This display device has a structure using planar multiple color light sources 201, 202, 203, 204, 205, 206, 207 such as an EL as the multiple color light sources and combining them with a planar optical modulation panel 210. A color picture is displayed by driving the multiple color light sources in a time-division manner for every color and showing lightness information of these colors synchronizing with them on the optical modulation panel.
