To turn over pages with one page turn-over button by either the right or the left hand by detecting the tilt of a housing by using a tilt sensor, automatically deciding the top direction of a picture from the tilt, and displaying picture pages in the direction based upon the decision result.
An LCD 20 displays the contents of pages of an electronic book, the page turn-over button 30 is used to change and display images displayed on the screen, i.e., the pages of the electronic book, one by one, in sequence, and a page return button 60 is used to put the image displayed on the screen back to the preceeding page. The tilt sensor 40 detects the tilt direction of a terminal 10, i.e., the tilt direction of the display surface. When the terminal 10 is held upside down, the terminal 10 slants forward, so the image is displayed on the display screen of the LCD 20 with this side down.
