To provide a display device capable of preventing the deterioration of luminance when disposing a liquid crystal shutter part on the front side of a self-emission type display panel.
The display device is provided with: the self-emission type display panel which radiates light from the front surface; and a liquid crystal shutter part which is disposed on the front surface side of the self-emission type display panel and controls transmittance of radiation light from the self-emission type display panel, wherein the radiation light includes a first and second polarizing light components of which polarizing directions are orthogonal to each other. The display device is further provided with a polarization conversion part comprising: a polarization division surface which transmits first polarized light rays consisting of a first polarization component among radiation light rays and reflects second polarized light rays consisting of a second polarization component; a mirror surface which changes an advancing direction of the second polarized light so that the first polarized light and the second polarized light align with each other by further reflecting the second polarized light; and a 1/2 wavelength plate which aligns polarization directions of the first polarized light and the second polarized light with each other by changing the polarization direction of the first polarized light or the second polarized light by 90°, between the self-emission type display panel and the liquid crystal shutter part.
