To provide a technology for exhibiting characteristics of both a black matrix with excellent adhesion and light-shielding properties and an electrode with low resistance, without adversely affecting environments.
The display device (PDP1) is provided with a first and a second panels 10, 20, and a first substrate 11 has a black matrix 30 formed. The black matrix 30 is provided with an adhesive layer 31 with nickel oxide as a main ingredient and a metal layer 32 with copper as a main ingredient. Since the adhesive layer 31 has a high light-shielding property, light is shielded, and as the metal layer 32 and the adhesive layer 31 are laminated, reflection light is attenuated. Since the metal layer 32 also plays a role of an electric wiring film, manufacturing processes of the PDP1 are made simple.
