The display device displaying frame images includes: a liquid crystal panel which has a display plane including plural pixel rows; a drive unit that drives the plural pixel rows; a storage that stores plural column data parts corresponding to plural pixel rows for storing image data; and a control section that determines the length of a writing period of the plural column data parts to control the drive unit. The control section includes: a writing part that writes plural column data parts in the storage; and a read section that reads a first-third column data part selected from the plural column data parts. The read section determines a first-third reading timing, starts reading of the first-third column data part and set a second time interval between the second reading timing and the third reading timing to be longer that the first time interval between the first reading timing and the second reading timing.
