PURPOSE: To offer the display device which is small in power comsumption and can be backed up with a small-capacity battery even in battery backup mode.
CONSTITUTION: The display device consists of an external power source part 2, a display module 1 in which a display device 10, a power source control part 12 for converting and controlling the electric power from the external power source part and then supplying the electric power to the display device, and a display control part 11 driving and controlling the display device are incorporated, and a control part 3 which controls the display module. A switching means 5, which supplies the electric power of the electric power source part 2 to the power source control part 12 when the display module is in operation and cuts off the power supply from the external power source part when the display module is not in operation, is provided between the external power source part 2 and the power source control part 12 of the display module 1.
